Sacred womanhood. Something I’ve been reflecting a lot on lately.

It’s right there in the second chapter of Genesis.

‘Then the Lord God said “It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make a helper for him” (Genesis 2:18)

Some people I know have almost spat their coffee out at the sentence the very idea of woman being man’s ‘helper’. But the Hebrew word ‘Ezer’ where this word comes from is used twenty one times in the Old Testament. Twice it refers to Eve, three times it refers to the powerful nations of Israel called on for help and the remaining times it refers to God as our helper himself.

Women as helpers are not subordinate to men, we are not servants, but saviours. Created to live a full and joyous life alongside our male friends whomever they may be.

As women we can ask ourselves…How can I fulfil Gods plans for me in the majesty and mystery of creation? How am I called by God as a helper, a helper of my fellow human beings, as a wife, as a mother, as a friend?

How, when I go out in the world today can I be more Christ like in my life, to elevate others, and bring dignity, reverence and love to whomever I meet?

It’s a big challenge isn’t it, and some days harder than others to achieve and that’s ok! We are only human! We can reflect, pray and reconcile ourselves to the Lord for a wonderful and fruitful tomorrow.

Sending love and support to all of you out there today, a few thoughts as I have been reflecting and planning next weeks activities at home 🤍

A little late but our resurrection garden is done 🕊 Myself and the little one sown wheatgrass and some wildflower seeds in here this weekend before adding a cross and a candle. The idea is the wheatgrass will grow up around the cross up to Easter Sunday, when I will then place a small piece of linen over the cross. The seeds are already starting to sprout into life. I’ve not tried wildflowers before but we are hoping that they will grow too. We also have butterflies we made last year for the Easter Garden from the lovely @my____fable a pack (which is where this bowl comes from too) So they will all be hung in this space too on Easter Morning. I’m still planning our Holy Week activities for here at home a little last minute this year. I was hoping to do a guide but I think this will have to wait until next year now. I have however downloaded a freebie from @catholicfamilycrate which will be fun to weave into our more creative activities this coming week. We have egg dyeing, a biblical character Easter egg decorating competition as well as baking treats and lots of little games for reflection. Do you have any plans for Holy Week, if you don’t celebrate Easter religiously what are you up to? #thewaywewaldorf #eastergarden #resurrectiongarden #wheatgrassgarden

Today has been a really weird day so far, I’ve seemed incredibly busy but at the same time don’t seem to have gotten much done.

I think the feeling of busyness comes from within. The ideas I have whizzing around my head from one minute to the next…..natural dyeing, spinning, weaving, growing my own and exploring local sustainable textiles. Planning a garden of wonder and delight to share with local children as a home based kindergarten.

Thoughts aside, today these wonderful seeds landed on my doorstep from Wild Colours @teresinharoberts . Flax for sowing in the garden next week and seeds to sow within my dye garden. All so incredibly exciting and the start of a journey I have been waiting to embark on for a long while.

Ive often thought myself aligned with the phrase …“A Jack of all trades and a master if none”

And it used to be incredibly frustrating to me. But then I came across the rest of the saying…”is often better than a master of one”

And so I am learning to embrace and go with my multiple interests, loves and talents and just enjoy who I am and the gifts I have to bring to this world.

I’m excited to share this journey with you all, and I think it’s going to be a wonderful journey for the children too, to begin to see such traditional crafts and skills come alive within their own home!

I hope you will follow along the journey with me #homesownproject
