“You will teach them to fly, but they will not fly your flight.

You will teach them to dream, but they will not dream your dream.

You will teach them to live, but they will not live your life.

Nevertheless, in every flight, in every life, in every dream,

the print of the way you taught will always remain.” Mother Theresa

The memories in these walls…and we have only lived here 4 years in August.

The tears, the laughter, the love, the echoes of newborn cries, the echoes of loved ones passed. The memories these walls hold, and the memories yet to be created here.

Our homes say an awful lot about who we are, the books we have on our shelves, the pictures we have on our walls, the care we take in our environment. We place an awful lot of emphasis on that today in a world which is so driven by image …But more important than that, what of the soul of the home, the home that feels welcoming because of its loving and gracious hosts, the home that feel open to debate, to question, to learning, for its inhabitants that want to learn, want to make the world a better place and a chat around the table is valued and encouraged. The home that ‘fails’ to be worthy of a show-home because it’s busy being worthy of the play of a three year old. The home that takes joy in LIVING What of this home?

Our homes are rich tapestries of us as people, Mother Theresa talked often about making your home a space loved so much your children don’t want to leave. She said that young people when at home could keep out of trouble and remain free from ‘sin’ and I’ve reflected on that idea thinking about my own childhood.

Whilst my peers went out drinking at a younger age and sitting in parks, I didn’t want to, I was happy with my hot chocolate and whipped cream my mum made me watching soaps. When my friends went out on NYE parties, I much rather would stay at home and see my family.

This is the home I am curating and creating , our sanctuary. My children will grow and live their own life, take their own journey but their memories in this space will last a lifetime ♥️

Summer Solstice Honey Muffins ☀️ 🍯 🌼

So I don’t think you can celebrate the summer without something sweet and as part of my being a member of the new #plantwondercollective I wanted to share my honey muffins with you. These muffins are just the right amount of sweet, if you are not feeling the frosting, a dusting of icing sugar and topped with Dandelion petals and clover is perfect!

For the muffins you will need:

2 cups of Plain Flour

2 tsp baking powder

1/2 tsp salt

1/2 cup coconut sugar

1/4 cup Honey

1 large egg

1 cup whole milk

60g butter (melted)

Petals of 10-20 dandelion heads

Preheat the oven to 180 degree Celsius

1. Mix all your dry ingredients in a bowl combine well including the dandelion petals (reserve a few for decoration on top of cakes and a few for sprinkling)

2. Combine all your wet ingredients in a jug and combine well. TIP swirl a tsp of olive oil in your cup before measuring your honey so it won’t stick to the cup when pouring out.

3. Add the wet to the dry and whisk well, do not over mix.

4. Divide between 12 Muffin Cases and bake in the centre of a preheated over for around 15-20 mins or until golden and springy and a toothpick comes out clean when inserted in the centre.

Remove from the oven and leave to cool, meanwhile make the butter cream by combining

140g butter, softened

280g icing sugar

1-2 tbsp milk

¼ tsp vanilla extract

few drops food colouring I used yellow, cream together and continue to whisk until light and fluffy.

Decorate the cakes with the frosting or icing sugar and top with dandelion and clover heads.

Solstice window sun tutorial ☀️

Happy Solstice ☀️ window stars are such a lovely addition to any window and today being the Solstice and with St John’s tide on the 24th I thought I would share this window sun pattern from my upcoming Waldorf Magic July Issue (Out Saturday)

To make thus sun you will need 8 Kite paper squares cut in half (so 16 Half pieces in total).

Fold your pieces following the images..

☀️ Fold your rectangle in half lengthways

☀️ Fold all four corners to the centre

☀️ fold the edges of one end to the centre fold line, then repeat (swipe to see images)

☀️Repeat for all pieces.

☀️Construct the first part of your sun by laying the pieces on top of one another left hand edge of the piece in your hand to the centre fold line on the table, repeat with 8 pieces until you have your base (see image)

☀️ Add your other eight pieces between the rays of the base piece as shown, the bottom corner of the piece you are adding should just overlap the base piece. Continue adding until your sun is complete.
