Advent Spiral
Updated: Apr 19, 2022

‘The gift of the light we thankfully take,
But not shall it be alone for our sake,
The more we give light, the one to the other, It shines and it spreads, growing still further;
Until every spark by friends set aflame,
Until every heart, the joy to proclaim;
In the depths of our souls,
A shining sun glows.’
I arrived cold and a little late to the beautiful little advent spiral @thevalleysteinerkindergarten today. Traffic and trying to wake the little one when we got there was troublesome. But as Steiner always manages to , when we walked in the room a wave of warmth, of peace and solitude washed over me. The atmosphere and reverence for such a simple tradition, lighting the spiral a celebration of quiet contemplation of carrying your own light in the darkness, to join with others.
The little one just waking up wasn’t too keen on the singing - but once it was our turn to walk the spiral she calmed watching our candle light, placing it in its own special place amongst the lights of others.
A truly magical and quiet moment amongst a busy December day, and a reminder to carry forth our own light to spread joy and love to others.
