Wax Resist Easter Eggs

Easter eggs for the tree...now Easter eggs for the table nestled safely in some of the wool from our @my____fable kit.
Yesterday I posted our lovely eggs on my feed and I’ve had a quite a few messages asking how they are done. The next couple of videos visually explain (I tried to do a full video but the house and background noise is too high)
All you need is a teaspoon, beeswax (I have beads but you could use old candle shavings) a tea light and a glass head pin. (Or for little ones simply use the matchstick you have used to light the candles with as my little one did ~ swipe to see).
You can also make cool feather stampers. Take a look at the lovely Sophie @goldnuss stories for how she did hers - great idea and it really adds a new dimension to this craft! Sophie has done a whole highlight on these style of eggs with some wonderful colour combinations and coloured wax too which we are going to try next week! I’ll share her stories in my story following this post)
So.. once you have your tools ....Blow you egg, rinse, pat dry and then if you like draw guides for your pattern in pencil, then simply ‘dip and dab’ I drew a circle on my egg and then followed the line with my diamond feather, I carried on round a couple of times before adding a flower in the centre with the pin (swipe to see).
I then literally dunked these eggs for a couple of minutes for the lovely peach (yellow onion) and baby blue (red cabbage) shades. The little one decorated a brown egg which she left in blueberry for around 10 minutes (she couldn’t wait any longer lol)
Artisan versions of these eggs are AMAZING! And I am no artisan but it’s so much fun and will keep us well entertained until Easter. I’m going to work on a very special egg for each of the children for Easter morning. So I’ll share that soon.
I hope you all enjoy Easter Egg decorating over the next couple of weeks! And have fun seeing what colours you can make from the ingredients in your kitchen. Simply keep the dyes in the fridge when done and they will last another session (we are going to paint with ours later and will make fresh batches for more eggs next week)
