“Remember remember the 5th November, Gunpowder, treason and plot.

I see no reason why gunpowder treason should ever be forgot”

We are not celebrating bonfire night till tomorrow as Daddy does not get from home until late. So I thought this afternoon we could make lanterns - the little one didn’t want to - and so I had to think fast something we could make which she could enjoy and had relation to the events tomorrow. Cue a pine cone and wool roving.

Simply teasing wool roving and wrapping it around a pine cone then pulling it through the top makes a great bonfire. We made two for the table centrepiece. Afterward we went into the garden to collect some sticks for around the ‘fire’ and some plants for the background.

Our doll has a sparkler made by glueing a tiny amount of roving on the end of a stick and sprinkling with eco glitter, and the grasses which have gone to seed and ferns are simply stuck into some clay and hud under the play cloth to stand!

Lantern making tomorrow may be more successful. For now enjoy your celebrations today!

Quick and easy firework transparency.

This evening the little one and I have been sat at the window watching all the fireworks. She wanted to make fireworks herself so I saw the opportunity to do something quick and easy which would add some more bonfire magic to our home.

Tracing a shape from black card to fit in our @atelierdenoest lamp We simply pierced holes with a pin and pencil. It was a team effort but the little one used a pin so well, and we switched to a push pin for better control. We pierced the paper resting on our paper making deckle but you could use some sticky tack underneath or even a piece of needle felting foam. Once done if you wish add splashes of colour with kite paper

Have a go yourself for any celebration!

So Tuesdays are our nature adventure days and we have had such a lovely morning and surprisingly amazing weather with a woman and little boy I know I’ll miss one day (when they leave me and move back down under 😂 @fairoakfell)

Amelia suggested visiting the singing ringing tree in Burnley and it sure does sing - quite eerie actually (swipe to watch the video) we had a lovely morning tea with cakes baked by B and some sandwiches and and fruit brought by myself, Arya and Mai. We saw some really interesting historical stone carvings too which we are going to have a research about this afternoon over some gingerbread decorating.

I love the little friendship these two are developing it’s so lovely to watch.

If you are up North most definitely recommend visiting - make sure you are wrapped up though as it would be pretty brutal on a blustery day, but the sound made then by this sculpture would be amazing!
