Today I received the most amazing post! ‘Extraordinary Parenting’ by Eloise Rickman@mightymother_

I feel so honoured to have contributed but a few lines to what I know is going to be an amazing, informative, inspirational and therapeutic read.

Eloise’s account was one of the first Parenting accounts I followed when I started on my Instagram journey and her words always come in the right tone at the right time. She has such a gift for providing perspective and foresight whilst also grounding you in the magic beauty and importance of being present in the now.

I can’t wait to get reading. Congratulations again Eloise in such an amazing achievement, an Extraordinary book written for Extraordinary times but which will no doubt be a go to book for parents everywhere for years to come.

June 1st is the start of the 30 days wild challenge with@thewildlifetruststo connect back with nature.

Considering we are in lockdown and still very much isolated, I thought it would be a great daily catalyst for learning and discussion. We have the app which randomly chooses a challenge for the day and today’s was celebrating the humble stick.

Now I had bows and arrows planned as part of our Medieval Block next week so I thought this would be a perfect time to introduce it. We had so much fun and learning trying to get it to work.

We simply used a long stick for the bow and a shorter one for the arrow with some wool to finish off the bow.

The children quickly discovered that they needed a sturdy stick to help create tension when pulled so it could fire the ‘arrow’ we made a successful first prototype and are looking forward to exploring how we can make these even better Over the next week or so, I sense some whittling coming along! I’ll keep you all updated as to how we get along!

One of our most love rhymes here at home and a favourite of my daughters, I decided to make her a hand written card for her birthday and gift it to her with a little posy of fresh scented french herbs from the garden, including the beautiful lavender which is slowly coming into bloom. Here is the rhyme below if you would like to make your own little rhyme card for referring to...

Lavender's blue, Dilly diilly, Lavender's green, When I am king, Dilly dilly, You shall be queen.

Call up your men, Dilly dilly, Set them to work, Some to the plow, Dilly dilly, Some to the cart.

Some to make hay, Dilly dilly, Some to cut corn, While you and I, Dilly dilly, Keep ourselves warm.

Lavender's green, Dilly dilly, Lavender's blue, If you love me, Dilly dilly, I will love you.
