As part of our Medieval Block a couple of weeks ago I thought it would be fun to live history and make a medieval feast. Now I cannot lay claim to these recipes they are from an amazing website called ’Cook it‘ which has recipes from so many historical periods and is an amazing resource for anyone wanting to bring history to life.
Traditionally the Girdle Bread would have used Ale as a raising agent but we decided that yeast would be better for the children, I am going to try Ale though for myself and my husband one day. The meatballs were so surprisingly tasty and the bread I have now added to my collection of essential recipes as it had a wonderful fluffy texture and would be equally great with Middle Eastern dishes which we love in this house with my husband being of half Iranian.
