Yesterday we made a play dough classic for the little one. Dandelions are everywhere this time of year and this lovely natural dough has been a hit since my twelve year old was little! It’s silky smooth and keeps really well too.
Take a handful of dandelion heads and whizz in a food processor with a cup of slightly cooler boiler water. If you don’t have a hand blender or food processor you can use a pestle and mortar to mash them up - which is so much fun for the children to take part in! Add this water and dandelion mixture to 2 cups of flour, 1/4 cup of salt, 2. Tablespoons of cream of tartar and a couple of drops of glycerin. Mix together to form a smooth dough - if it’s slightly sticky then add a little more flour! We always have a couple of dandelions to kneed in the fresh petals at the end. . This entertains children’s of all ages and my almost nine year old loved getting all my baking equipment and cutters out making ‘cakes’ with her little sister for hours. . I’ll pop this on the blog for future keeping today! But I hope you enjoy it! . K x
